The first one, Ydes town centre, heir of a rich mining past, is a great industrial and commercial town, where you can find numerous services. The second one, several kilometres away on the banks of the Sumène, is Ydes "bourg", former town centre, yet tourist pole. This village full of character and history, will attract visitors with its Gallo-Roman public baths, its magnificent Romanesque church and its pastoral lives. At the end of the circuit, visitors can admire 3000 specimens of insects and butterflies from all over the world at the Insect Museum. Then, at the end of the day, visitors can find an ideal place to spend a fairy tale evening at the Trancis castle on Saignes road.

Sacred art treasure of the Puy Sumène -
A Treasure of Sacred Arts can be found in the Saint-Georges' church, Ydes "bourg". It is a jewel of the Romanesque art of Auvergne and was built in the 12th century by the Templars. They left a commander's residence in front of the building and today, visitors can appreciate a standard of grace and balance. By strolling around the apse, one can admire engraved capitals and sculptured colonnades. In the former sacristy, a surprise awaits visitors: the treasure of the church - artefacts of worship lent by the 12 communes of the canton of Saignes. An exceptional heritage not to be missed.
