The Organs of Bort - Bort-les-Orgues
is a town on the border between Auvergne and Limousin,
nestling at the foot of its organs that forms a volcanic
barrier overhanging the town. The name of this 1.25 miles
long (2km) row of columns, between 265ft (80m) and 330ft
(100m) high, is well chosen as they are made of phonolite
rock, which echoes peculiarly. This place is known as the
best spot to admire the Auvergne region, since the Organs
of Bort offer a wide panorama covering the Sancy Massif,
the Mounts of the Cantal and the plateau of Artense.

path in Champs-sur-Tarentaine or the path of the Janiac' s
woods in Saignes will introduce you to the enchanting universe
of the forest spread over the plateau of Artense. Full
of beeches, the most adapted tree to the climate and the
altitude, and enriched as years go by with various conifers,
these footpaths allow hikers to expand their knowledge
about forests, thanks to explanatory boards while enjoying
