Super Besse, a rising resort .
On the southern side of the massif of the Sancy , the Super Besse ski resort welcomes the Andros Championship (Trophée Andros) every year. Its sunlight, beautiful landscapes, its warm welcome and the promise of many activities makes it a must for all kinds of skiers.

In the Massif Central, a pioneer ski resort for new sliding sport - In summer, the resort is visited for its relaxing quietness, however it is a paradise for skiers during the winter. It is possible to learn or to improve there, regardless of the weather thanks to the 85 ultramodern snow cannons. You can even take a look at the slopes before leaving thanks to 2 webcams along them, the ideal way to avoid bad weather. At Super-Besse, anyone can find an activity which will quench his thirst of emotions. In addition to the new sledge slopes, some spots adapted to new winter sport are kept up along the whole ski resort. A free park has been recently created so that you can practice snowboard or boardercross. Some runs, lit 24 hours a day, have been wired for sound to slide on music. And we should not forget the last two novelties : the tubing on huge rubber rings and snow kite, a large kite which tows you on the mounts of the Sancy thanks to ropes. What a thrilling experience !

The domain of the Great Sancy (Grand Sancy) -
Fairly exposed to the sun, the ski resort of Super-Besse, with its 22 ski lifts proposes 53 miles (85km) of downhill skiing slopes linked to the Mont Dore, which is located on the other hillside of the Sancy massif. There are also 80 miles (125km) of cross-country skiing trails scattered among wooded relieves, frozen lakes and plateaux. That is to say, fair enough to enjoy the wide and generous nature in the heart of the Natural Park of Auvergne's volcanoes (Parc Naturel des Volcans d'Auvergne). For the wintersport addicts, the new ski pass called Massif Central allows you to enjoy both the domains of the "Grand Sancy" and of "The Lioran".
And if you are not fond of skiing.
- With or without snow shoes, you can go to discover the wide panoramas of these countries. By leaving Super-Besse with a cable car, you will reach the Puy de la Perdrix where you can admire the Chaudefour Valley. Then, follow the crest path that will lead you to the summit of the Sancy. At a height of 5940ft (1800m), you will have a panorama over1/7 of France.
The nearby village of Besse-en-Chandesse, built with stone and lava, will make you travel in the medieval Auvergne with its lanes lined with booths. If you are not exhausted by this day in the open air, the night life pleasures await you : like the ice skating rink, the concert evenings or the night club of Super Besse called le Buron, at the foot of the slopes.

The Saint-Nectaire – A king’s cheese -
The Saint-Nectaire has been appreciated for the first time at the table of Louis the 14th, it was introduced by the marshal of the royal household Henry de La Ferté-Senneterre (1600-1681). Its renown has been made by Legrand D'Aussy, who said in 1768, when he related his trip to Auvergne :
"When they want to regal you there, the Saint-Nectaire is always on the menu.
.Product : cow milk
. Paste : uncooked pressed paste
. Rind : "flowery", sealed with a green casein, it has a yellowish, sulphur or orange colour
. Taste : a slight taste of chest nut or walnut.
